BDU operates on a two-semester system, with the first in the spring and the second in the fall. Each comprises 15 weeks, though BDU also offers classes during the summer and winter vacation periods. Most classes are 3 credits, but some 2-credit classes are also available, depending on the expected workload.
Classes are offered online, but students may choose to engage in offline activities such as study groups, field trips, department gatherings, festivals, sports days, club meetings, etc. If offline components are introduced by the professor, these cannot exceed 20% (or 3 weeks) of the total class content.
Professors try to respond within 24 hours of receiving questions. Also, students can receive peer feedback as well as professor guidance through class discussion rooms. These collaborative learning environments build creative and critical thinking skills. They are usually monitored and managed by the class professor, though students may set up their own independent groups. All personal student information is protected using BDU’s Information Security Management System (ISMS).
